However, on Reddit, players have reported that hitting all four marks does not complete the quest step.
The issue is that a fifth symbol must also be shot to complete the step. This fifth symbol is “behind a slab of architecture/wall to the left of (and just before) the doorway between the first room with ads.” Another place it will be available is “left of the exit door behind a little wall.”
The quest step will be completed once all five symbols have been shot. If players are still having trouble, they may want to try reloading the lost sector or using a different weapon, as one user reported that using a fuel rifle made the runes disappear.
How To Complete Toil and Trouble Quest

You will automatically receive the Season of the Witch mission when the Season starts. Still, you can also initiate it from the H.E.L.M. map. - Finish the Way of the Witch mission.
- Complete Savathun’s Spire.
- Explore the portal in the southern wing of the H.E.L.M.
- Speak to Eris Morn in the Athenaeum.
- Stop by the Lectern of Divination.
- Head over to the Ritual Table in the Athenaeum.
