Explaining Who Are the Ammonites in Destiny 2
Ammonites were one of the early species before the age of Destiny 2. Ammonites were an intelligent, advanced species that evolved in one of the moons of the gas giant Fundament. They lived in harmony with the Krills. After the Traveler arrived, Ammonites started worshipping the Traveler. Together with that, they started worshipping the disciple of the Traveler, the Leviathan.
Ammonites are based on bony six-armed cephalopods in the real world. These are states to be evolved in the icy moon of Fundament planet. After the Traveler’s arrival on the earth, the Traveler became a patron of the Ammonites. With the Traveler’s help, the Ammonites built an advanced spacefaring civilization with paracasual technology. This technology spanned the whole 52 moons of the planet Fundament.
The Ammonite Satellite Congress governed the ammonite civilization. This congress and its military forces were under the command of Chroma-Admiral Rafriit when the Hive was formed. This civilization and most probably the admiral had contact with the Ecumene, a collection of inter-galaxy governmental organizations. The Ammonites also helped the Leviathan, the traveler’s disciple, to keep the Worms at bay. Ammonites worshipped the Leviathan with the respect they had toward the Traveler.

After the Hive conquered the Fundament and its species and used their technology to build the spaceships, the leaders of the Ammonites were forced to kill one of the leaders of the Hive, Taox. While pursuing this task, even though the worms could not succeed, the Hive declared war against the Ammonites. However, the initial attacks on the Ammonites were halted due to the clever strategies of Chroma-Admiral Rafriit and Auryx. Due to these tactics, the Hive retreated to the sixth moon of Fundament.
After some time, Auryx’s sister, Savathun, killed Auryx for his powers. However, the power of worms and darkness entered Auryx’s life, strengthening his resolve. The Hive began an all-out attack on the Ammonites, knowing the leader had been killed. During this war, the Leviathan was killed and fed to the worms, and the Ammonites were wiped out, including their coveted general. This marked the end of the Ammonite race in the Destiny universe.
