A fan of the obscure horror game “Garten of Banban” took on the challenge of recreating it from scratch. He began by purchasing assets and models from SketchFab, as most of the original game’s assets were sourced from SketchUp. Then, with just one tutorial on Unreal Engine One for level design, he set out to create a theoretical remake of the game, sharing a screenshot of his progress on Twitter. Also, encouraged by Twitter’s response, he dedicated an entire week to working on the game.

The fan’s recreation involved redesigning the game’s characters and replacing them with painted murals and posters. Each mascot was also given a profession, such as Jumbo Josh, the chef, and the bird, which promoted healthy eating. The first chapter of the game focused on the importance of getting enough sleep and being able to play all day. The fan recreated the game’s lobby and added an outdoor scene to the front entrance.
In contrast to the original’s brightly lit environment, the fan aimed for a more horror-themed ambiance. He added a flashlight mechanic and implemented a drone feature to the game. He also recreated the wooden playground from the original game and added 3D pipes throughout the map to create the illusion of a massive play area.
