How to Cancel NVIDIA GeForce NOW in 2024: A Comprehensive Guide
Quick answer: Sign in at account.nvidia.com (or open the GeForce NOW app and go to Settings > GeForce NOW Membership) and downgrade your paid plan to Free. Do it at least 24 hours before your next billing date. You keep paid access until the period ends. Billed through Amazon? Cancel in your Amazon account instead.

There’s no big red Cancel button on GeForce NOW. NVIDIA treats cancelling as a downgrade to the Free membership, which is why people go looking for the option and can’t find it. Below are the exact steps for each way you might be billed, the timing that decides whether you get charged one more time, and what happens to your saves, storage and Founders perks. Everything comes from NVIDIA support and the GeForce NOW membership terms, checked in October 2026.

How to cancel GeForce NOW on the website

  1. Go to account.nvidia.com (or geforcenow.com) and sign in with the NVIDIA account you use for GeForce NOW.
  2. Open the GeForce NOW membership section.
  3. Choose to change your plan and pick the Free membership.
  4. Confirm. Changes can take up to 24 hours to show in your account, so don’t panic if it still says Performance or Ultimate straight away.

That’s it. Your plan won’t renew, and when the current period ends the account drops to Free. Your NVIDIA account and game store links stay put.

How to cancel from the GeForce NOW app

On PC, Mac, Android or a TV, open the GeForce NOW app and go to Settings, then GeForce NOW Membership. NVIDIA’s FAQ says the Manage button there takes you to the membership page on its website, where you downgrade as above.

iPhone and iPad are a bit different. NVIDIA doesn’t have a GeForce NOW app in the App Store. You play through Safari at play.geforcenow.com instead. So there’s no Apple subscription to cancel. Use account.nvidia.com in the browser instead.

Paid through Amazon, Fire TV or a partner? Cancel there

Look at who billed you. That decides where you cancel.

  • Bought on a Fire TV through Amazon: NVIDIA says Amazon manages the billing, so cancel in your Amazon account’s subscriptions. On the Fire TV itself it’s Settings > Applications > Appstore > Manage My Subscriptions. Some buttons on NVIDIA’s account page will be grayed out for these memberships.
  • Playing through a GeForce NOW Alliance partner (a local company that runs the service in some countries): the partner has its own plans, and NVIDIA’s membership terms don’t cover them. Cancel with that partner.

Either way, you keep access until the paid period ends, then the account drops to Free.

When to cancel so you don’t get charged again

Timing is the bit people get wrong. The membership terms say:

  • Change your plan at least 24 hours before your next billing cycle starts.
  • If you haven’t changed it by 11:59 pm US Central time on the day before the billing date, you get charged for the next cycle.
  • Monthly plans renew roughly every 30 days. You can see your next billing date in the account portal.

Our take: cancel the day you decide, not the day before renewal. You lose nothing by doing it early, because the paid plan runs to the end of the period anyway.

Can you get a refund?

Usually not. NVIDIA’s terms say payments are non-refundable and there are no refunds or credits for partly used periods. Any exception is at NVIDIA’s discretion. If you were charged after cancelling in time, or charged twice, contact NVIDIA customer care with the date you downgraded. Amazon purchases go through Amazon.

What you lose when you cancel

Thing What happens
Paid features Stay until the period ends, then you’re on Free: ads before sessions, longer queues, basic rigs, shorter sessions.
GeForce NOW saved games Kept indefinitely on paid plans. On Free, they’re deleted after 6 months of inactivity. Cloud saves on Steam, Epic, Ubisoft and EA aren’t affected. (NVIDIA)
Persistent cloud storage (Install-to-Play) If you cancel a storage plan, everything in it is deleted at the end of that billing cycle, with no grace period. (terms)
Account balance Any GeForce NOW account balance is forfeited when you downgrade to Free. (FAQ)
Founders for Life Lost for good if your paid Founders membership ends or you downgrade to Free. It can’t be restarted. (FAQ)

The Founders point deserves a second look. If you’re on the old Founders rate with unlimited playtime, cancelling ends a deal NVIDIA no longer sells. Changed your mind? NVIDIA says you can reinstate a Founders membership while you’re still inside the current billing period.

Before you cancel: the 100-hour cap and cheaper options

Plenty of people cancel because of the playtime cap. Since early 2026, Performance and Ultimate include 100 hours of play a month, with up to 15 unused hours rolling over, per NVIDIA’s FAQ. TechPowerUp reported the cap took effect on January 1, 2026. Run out and you can buy more hours or keep playing on basic Free-tier rigs until the reset.

A few options sit between “keep paying” and “cancel”:

  • Drop from Ultimate to Performance if you don’t need the RTX 5080 rigs.
  • Go Free and buy a Day Pass (24 hours of Performance or Ultimate) when a big game lands.
  • Stay on Free. It needs no payment method at all.

Moving back to a gaming PC instead? Update your graphics driver before the first session. Our NVIDIA drivers guide covers the clean install. Cloud gaming hides a lot of driver hassle, and you’ll meet some of it again.

Cancel vs deleting your NVIDIA account

Cancelling (downgrading to Free) keeps your account. Deleting it is a different thing: it ends every paid and free plan straight away and removes your GeForce NOW saves, and it can affect other NVIDIA services tied to that account. NVIDIA handles deletion through the NVIDIA Privacy Center. Most people just want the downgrade.

NVIDIA’s membership terms say payments are non-refundable, with no credits for partly used periods. Any refund is at NVIDIA’s discretion.
