If this is your first time visiting the bazaar, then it won’t be possible to read the map once Link steps into the desert. You can follow the coordinates, which are still visible on the minimap (bottom-right corner).

You can talk to Benja and Robsten in the southwestern part of the location under the palm trees near the lake. After talking with Benja and Robsten, you will understand that their friend Ponthos went to the desert and did not return. They ask you to find it and bring it back. To complete the Lost in the Dunes in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, you must travel into a sand whirlpool and rescue Ponthos from the sand trap. You can follow the below way to rescue Ponthos from the sand trap.
- Return to the surface using Ascend, then go to -3347, -2679, 0028. There’s also a campfire nearby for guidance.
- There should be a sandpit where players can dive in.
- Jumping in will bring Link to an underground cave where they’ll find Ponthos. Speak to him, and he’ll lament about getting stuck. He’s not much help for the rest of the quest, so ignore him and look around for breakable walls/boulders. Unlike the blue ones from earlier, these can be broken with a Rock Hammer or (if you have it) Spirit Yunobo’s Ability.
- Go towards the marker on the map, breaking down any boulders. If players didn’t place the marker, they should move towards (-3253, -2629, 0004) instead.
- Break the boulders leading to the Kara Kara Bazaar Well, then head back to Ponthos. Talk to him, and he’ll leave.
- Return to Kara Kara Bazaar and speak with him and his friends. You will reward Link one of the Gerudo Heroine Statue orbs.
