Pokémon Go Routes are custom walking paths set by players which appear in the Pokémon Go Routes Tab. Trainers can either create their courses or follow those submitted by other players towards potential spawning points and enjoy and absorb lovely views in the real world.

Pokémon Go Routes: How to Create a New Route

You can create a new route by selecting Route from Nearby Tab.

  • Choose the “Nearby” Tab from the bottom right of the screen. Select ” Route ” From the available menu and tap “Create New Route.”
  • As the starting point of your Route, select a Pokestop or a Gym. You must be nearby to this chosen location.
  • Then choose an endpoint for your Route. Hit record and start walking toward the endpoint.
  • This path will be recorded so that the other trainers can follow it. Finally, please fill out the information at the end of the Route, where Niantic reviews it manually and makes it visible to other trainers.

Pokémon Go Routes: How to Explore a Route

To explore an existing route, you can select a nearby option.

  • Go to the “Nearby” tab and select “Routes.” In this tab, select the “See Nearby Routes” option.
  • Then you can see all the nearby routes available for you. The system displays estimated walking time and distance when you choose a path.
  • Then after tapping “Follow,” head to the starting location and follow the blue line towards the end. While observing, you can enjoy multiple bonuses and rewards along the path.

Pokémon Go Routes: Bonuses and Rewards

The Pokemon Go Routes rewards include Route Badge, speed Buddy Candy earning, XP, and more.

  • A new Route Badge will be given when you complete a route for the first time.
  • Earn Buddy candy more quickly.
  • Pokémon will be attracted to Incenses while you are exploring a route for the first time.
  • Earn an XP bonus for the first Route completed each day. After seven days, you will receive an increased XP bonus.
  • Earn a buddy heart while completing a route with a friend.
