Pokémon Go: Poliwag Community Day Overview
Poliwag Community Day commences 30th July 2023 at 2.00 pm local time and ends at 5.00 pm local time. During this three-hour window, Poliwag will frequently spawn in the wild, and if you are lucky enough, you can encounter Shiny Poliwag.
Poliwag Community Day Bonuses
- 1/4 Hatch distance for eggs placed in incubators during the event
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- 2× chance for Trainers level 31+ to get Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules activated
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated
- Trades with 50% less Stardust.
- One additional Special Trade (maximum of three for the day)
- 5x Poliwag photobomb encounters
Who Is Poliwag in Pokémon Go?
Poliwag is a Non-legendary Water-type Pokémon. It was initially found in the Kanto region and belonged to Generation 1. Poliwag’s stats are Max CP of 937, 101 ATK, 82 DEF, and 120 STA. Poliwag is a Pokémon with a blue body and large eyes. It has a very thin yet flexible skin. Even sharp fangs will bounce off it.
Poliwag is weak against Electric and Grass-type moves and boosts under Rainy weather. Its best Fast Moves are Bubble and Mud-Shot. And best Charge Moves are Body Slam, Mud Bomb, and Bubble Beam.

Poliwag Evolution in Pokémon Go
Poliwag has a long line of evolution and requires 225 Candies to come to its final form.
- Poliwag into Poliwhirl – need 25 Candies
- Poliwhirl into Poliwrath – Need 100 Candy
- Poliwhirl into Politoed – Need 100 Candy and a King’s Rock
Pokémon Go: Poliwag Community Day Featured Attacks
Poliwag Community Day comes with two exclusive moves- Counter and Ice Beam. To get the Counter move, you need to evolve Poliwhirl into Poliwrath during the event or before 10.00 pm local time (on the same day).
Counter–Fast Attack
Trainer Battles: 8 power
Gyms and raids: 12 power
To get the Ice Beam move, you should evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed during the event time or before 10.00 pm local time (on the same day)
Ice Beam–Charged Attack
Trainer Battles: 90 power
Gyms and raids: 90 power
Pokémon Go: Poliwag Community Day Raids and Research
Four-Star Raids
Poliwhirl will appear in Four-Star raids. The raid will begin on 30th July 2023 from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm local time. The winners will get more chances with Poliwag around the gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes. And if you are lucky, you’ll get Shiny ones. However, you’ll need Raid and Premium Battle Passes to join the raid. Remote Raid Passes are not acceptable.
